今日は or Magda's Overly Elaborate Cooking

This begins in October 2006 with my trip to Japan but segues into images of things I have cooked.

long weekend leads to weird dreams

So I had this really weird dream last night that I was in a grocery store walking around with Michael Good (a friend from high school) and for some reason we were there with the rest of our class. There were 5 grocery carts of food the whole class had picked out, and for some reason ym junior high language arts teacher was paying for it all at the checkout. We (all 30 of us) had come in a minivan (apparently a clown minivan) and we had gotten more food than would fit and so me and Michael had to walk. I'm not sure why. I guess dreams are weird. And I was so tired when I woke up that I really just wanted to go back to sleep and not go to school, especially since I have work until 11.

I keep thinking I see people I knew in Japan when I am walking around, it is very odd. And I was talking to the Mexican cleaning lady at work today and I kept thinking of the word for things in Japanese and I couldn't remember any words in spanish at all. It's very frustrating, because when I try to speak Japanese I always think of what I want to say in German or Spanish, which shouldn't happen since I know exponentially more Japanese than anything else.

I went to Springfield on the Amtrak on Thursday night - it went really well. We got there right on time and I had no trouble finding the platform in Chicago. I met a girl on the train who was going to St Louis and is a freshman at Columcia. It was very reminiscent of Nana (japanese manga). Springfield was nice, we went to Aaron's office on Friday and then out shopping and I got an elephant in a tutu. Saturday we were lazy and then had lunch (the Springfield speciality is this ridiculous openface sandwich with meat and then cheese sauce with fries on the top. not as yucky as it sounds), went to an art fair (Aaron: "Art fairs in Springfield are just as boring as ones in Chicago") and then we walked around the Old State Capitol building and had ice cream and waited for the train to go home. The train got to Springfield right on time, and by the time we were to Joliet we were so ahead of schedule that we got to Union Station 20 minutes early. My mom and dad came and picked me up and hten later I went out to my friend Dennis's party. I was exhausted and didn't really want to go but I am glad I went, it was a lot of fun.

I've got to figure out the chess stuff soon... I am not going to have any free time :(

senioritis

I am tired of going to school already. And it's only the third week of school.

I keep having dreams about earthquakes, but there aren't earthquakes here, so it's weird. On tv there were a lot of shows about Hurricane Katrina a couple weeks ago and now there are a bunch of shows about 9-11 in retrospective on.

Today I went to an anthropology club meeting after going to work. It was okay. I talked to a bunch of people so that was good.

Otherwise I have not done anything interesting lately.
